最近读了许倬云的《中国文化的精神》，许老也是忧国忧民，出于对当今世界形势的担忧，西方文明已经快到穷途末路，或许只有中国文化才能拯救世界。许老出生名门望族，学识渊博，经历丰富，有大师之范，深入浅出地道出了中国文化的精神，核心为天地人神体系——自然崇拜和祖神崇拜结合为一。
宇宙始于混沌状态，就如一个巨大的圆卵，圆卵突然裂开，其中坐了一个盘古，他举手将轻清的空气往上推，成为天空，将重浊的物质往下压，成为地面，盘古的骨骼成为山岭，血脉成为河流，毛发成为草木——世界出现了。宇宙的创造者和宇宙本身是一体的，是以“人”为主体。这种宇宙观始于春秋时期，即中国文化的轴心时代，将自然崇拜和祖神崇拜结合为一，从上有天、地、日、月延伸到人间，然后有深入到人体内部，构建一个四个层次的天地人神体系。在时间上，将过去和现在以及人生的生前和死后，构建为一个不断流变的过程。时空配合为一个巨大的系统，其中各个部分则有多元互动，多元成分之间——阴阳论、五行论，将宇宙看作一个各个部分和各个因素互动的秩序。
许老在书中还讲述了的中国历法、 五行论、易经、人际网络、 儒道佛三家融合和明代四部通俗小说解读等，这对中国文化的理解颇有帮助，值得细读品味。
